Who gets credit when AI can copy any style
Transcript
Rethink your priors.
Okay. This is gonna be a big one, and I know a lot of emotions are gonna come up, so stick with me.
If AI can copy any style, who gets credit?
I was talking about this with a family member, and I think the issue is we live in a world that rewards effort with capital of some sort, and credit is part of that capital.
And tech has kind of moved us away from ideas being possible capital. The music piracy of the 2000s was a huge sign of that, because software is essentially free to reproduce, and to give someone access to the product is to give them the idea.
Napster gave its software away free of charge, people copied songs from one computer to another, and in 2001 a court said Napster could be held liable.
So here's mine. I don't disagree in theory with the idea of not having credit, but people put real years into these skills, and you can't do away with it until you have something like U.B.I.
So who gets credit? For now, I think the person who put the years in, because credit is still how they get paid. And yes, I build AI agents, so I'm aware of how this sounds. I mean, it is interesting how motivated people are to keep the world as it is, and it makes a lot more sense when your rent rides on it.
Next time, the history. There's going to be a lot of farming.
Anyway. Start from the outcome. Or don't. I'm not your manager. Follow for more.
